About Alisson

wp:paragraph

I’m Ali and I’m a certified trauma-informed solutions-focused coach. I also hold a PhD in behavioural economics, am trained in applied neuroscience and brain health, and I’ve co-authored several papers on behavioural responses to COVID-19.

I’m also a consultant, researcher, and lecturer who spent most of the past decade building a bootstrapped, fully remote (recruiting globally) software startup from incorporation to acquisition. Using the processes, strategies, and tactics we’ll implement here, along with a fully human approach allowed me to have the company humming with efficiency and genuine engagement to outperform their competitor by over 87% before their acquisition.

Physical distance and the online environment offers different opportunities for making close connections: we have more time and motivation than we used to for these deeper conversations, and we have the opportunity and time to meet interesting people from all over the world – because they’re all online as well.

It’s possible to build a fully human, fully connected community online. I know because I did just that.

I was working remotely before it was cool (or compulsory), spending most of the last decade building and leading a fully remote, bootstrapped software startup from incorporation to acquisition.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph

Everything I learned in terms of building culture and connection in that highly successful remote environment is wildly relevant now.

I’m a certified trauma-informed coach, hold a PhD in behavioural economics, and am certified in applied neuroscience and brain health.

The majority of my success at work and study has depended on my being self-directed, and motivating myself to push towards huge goals on long-term projects.

/wp:paragraph wp:paragraph

Pushing too hard in the past has meant I’ve seen a couple of burnouts. With my background, I’ve been able to see myself through them. So, I can speak on how to avoid those, too.

Even when you’re self-employed and fired up to work on your passion, losing momentum can pull you down into the paralysis of the guilt spiral.
Working alone = deep work and focus, working together = accountability and support.

About John James

John is a strategist who works for himself, and has created and run multiple private businesses. These days he invests into tech startups while finishing off his own and freelancers as an advisor to multiple companies around the world. His speciality is growth, which involves connecting the phases of strategy, tactical execution and measurement together into a looped process. It’s through this work that forced him to pay attention to goal and objective setting as well as seeing that work through to completion. By doing this hundreds of times across different organizations of all size, he noticed what works and what doesn’t.

If you’re not listening him during our weekly 100DOS sessions, you can find him interviewing people for his podcast, on the advisory boards of private companies, or swimming in a pool somewhere around Australia.
